Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a long-term lung problem that makes it very hard to breathe. It includes some conditions like chronic bronchitis and emphysema, where the airways get swollen and the lungs get damaged. People with COPD may have a constant cough, trouble breathing, wheezing and extra mucus. The main causes of COPD are smoking, air pollution and breathing in dust or chemicals for a very long time. COPD gets worse over time, but with early diagnosis and also with proper treatment, symptoms can be managed and the quality of life can get improved.
