Pleural Effusion
Pleural Effusion is a condition where excess fluid builds up in the space between the lungs and the chest wall, known as the pleural space. This can make it difficult to breathe and may cause chest pain, cough or a feeling of tightness in the chest. Pleural effusion can result from many underlying causes such as heart failure, lung infections (like pneumonia or tuberculosis), cancer or liver and kidney disease. Depending on the cause and severity, treatment may include draining the fluid and addressing the underlying condition to relieve symptoms and prevent recurrence.
What Causes Pleural Effusion:
- Congestive Heart Failure
- Pneumonia or Lung Infections
- Tuberculosis (TB)
- Cancer
- Liver Cirrhosis
- Kidney Disease
