Pulmonary Hypertension
Pulmonary Hypertension is a serious condition where the blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs becomes abnormally high. This happens when the blood vessels in the lungs become narrowed, blocked or damaged, making it very harder for blood to flow through. As a result, the heart has to work harder to pump blood, which can lead to symptoms like shortness of breath, fatigue, chest pain, dizziness and swelling in the legs or ankles. If left untreated, it can strain the heart and lead to failure but the early diagnosis and treatment can manage symptoms and slow its progress.
What Causes Pulmonary Hypertension:
- Damage of pulmonary arteries
- Chronic lung diseases
- Heart problems, especially on the left side
- Blood clots in the lungs
- Autoimmune conditions
