Respiratory Allergy
Respiratory Allergy is a condition where the immune system overreacts to substances in the air, such as pollen, dust mites, mold or pet dander. When a person with a respiratory allergy inhales these allergens, their body responds by releasing chemicals like histamine, leading to symptoms such as sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. These reactions can affect the nose, lungs or both. Though not life-threatening, respiratory allergies can affect daily life. With proper diagnosis and treatment, symptoms can be managed very well.
