Tuberculosis (TB)
Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious bacterial infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, primarily affecting the lungs but potentially spreading to other parts of the body. It spreads through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks. TB can be active, with symptoms like a persistent cough, chest pain, fever, night sweats and weight loss or it can remain latent without symptoms. People with weakened immune systems are at higher risk. TB is curable and preventable with timely antibiotics or medications. The early detection and proper treatment are the key to recovery and stopping its spread.
